The University of Leicester has a proud history, founded in the aftermath of World War I as a living memorial to those who lost their lives in the Great War. Their motto – Ut Vitam Habeant, "so that they may have life" – reflects their values to do justice to the hopes and expectations of those on whose shoulders we now stand, striving to make a difference in everything that we do.

Today the University is a lively, energetic and global community, in which dedicated and talented people are anticipating, working towards, and helping to shape the future. The University does everything possible to recognise diversities, achieve equalities and enable all of staff and students to be people who flourish.

They have an enviably close-knit campus in the heart of the most multicultural city in the UK. Welcoming and cohesive, the surroundings facilitate collaboration in a winning city with a reputation for defying the odds.
